Sometime in the Second Quarter of Two-Thousand-Two
When Pay Cheques didn't hit the bank on the Month's Day Two
Something called "Downtime" hit like a Harsh Reality
Five Months and salary quickly became a rarity

Sera-nova was supposed to mean a new Beginning
But the Company's Stocks showed no Silver Lining
A Time of Keeping Hopes Alive
Re-inforcing a Self-belief to Survive

Those times were part of a so called "cycle"
"Analysts" and "Experts" seemed endlessly Fickle
The Wheel of fortune never took a turn
Hard earned savings soon began to burn

Working in a Fool's paradise
Instincts didn't help to think twice
Consequences did seem Grave
But they say "Fortune Favours the Brave"

A Full Five Years after Celebrating Resilience
And a word called "Recession" now keeps everyone tense
"Layoffs", "Retrenchments", "Cost cutting" do the round
Memories of Two-Thousand-Two are back to hound

Questions of survival raise their head
Do I have it in me to still look ahead?
Wasn't long ago that we celebrated the Billion
And Banks report their losses in Multi-Billion

O God, provide for families to Survive
Time for that survival instinct to Revive
Work Hard and there's nothing to worry
Recession time...Sell those stocks...Gotta Hurry :-)
